We received a call today to our main business line from someone who asked to “speak to the person who handles Worker’s Comp. Insurance.”

The call routed to our receptionist, who wisely asked “Who’s speaking please?”, to which the caller replied, “Joey”.

Our receptionist asked, “Joey from where?”.

The caller replied, “Joey from Grunston”, but it was hard to make out as the caller did not enunciate the company name very well, and spoke very quickly. Our receptionist wisely understood then that the caller was a phishing attempt, hung up, and reported the calling number to our telecommunications provider.

Your users are your last layer of defense, so train them well to identify not only email scams but also ones that come through the telephone.
