A skilled craftsperson keeps nothing that she does not need. This is where practice meets philosophy. Even if the tools are so-so, the skilled craftsperson can make wonders. To her, creating waste is an offense. Having unused tools laying around is a waste. Not only that but unused tools create a security hazard, and a cluttered work space. Don’t buy, install or cling to unused tools. The craftswoman’s tools are extensions of her self, and she is “unpretentious like wood that has not been fashioned into anything”(1).
